About this ministry
Men’s Fellowship
Men’s Fellowship is a place for the men of Cathedral Baptist Church to encourage one another in Christian growth, friendship, and the work of the church. Come as you are. A first visit is welcome.
What the Lord commands
The Bible does not treat godly manhood as a suggestion. It commands it. A man who follows the Lord is called to stand fast in the faith, to love his wife as Christ loved the church, to bring up his children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, and to provide for his own house. These are not optional ideals. They are the Lord’s commandments, and walking in them is necessary for a joyful life under His hand.
Why it matters
A man shapes his home, his church, and the next generation. When he is weak in the Word, careless with his wife, or absent from his children, the damage does not stay with him. When he is strong in the Lord, his household is steadied and the church is strengthened.
Scripture is plain
- “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13
- “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it.” — Ephesians 5:25
- “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life.” — 1 Peter 3:7
- “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” — Ephesians 6:4
- “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” — 1 Timothy 5:8
- “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” — Proverbs 27:17
- “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another.” — Hebrews 10:24–25
Apart from the Lord
None of this is possible apart from the Lord. Jesus said, “Without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). A biblically sound man is not self-made. He is made by the grace of God, walking in the Spirit, and depending on Christ every day. Strength that does not come from Him will not hold.
Why we meet
These duties are hard. At times they feel impossible — and apart from the Lord and the fellowship of believers, they are. A man cannot sharpen himself. He needs brothers who will pray with him, speak the truth to him, and hold him to the Word. That is the entire point of this ministry.

Men’s Fellowship Breakfast — 2nd Saturday, 8:00 AM in the Sherman Harmon Family Life Center. Full breakfast, fellowship, and a short devotional. All men are welcome.
Men’s Prayer Meeting — Sundays, 9:00 AM in the Fisher Fellowship Hall.
