Women’s Fellowship

Women’s Fellowship is a place for the women of Cathedral Baptist Church to encourage one another in Christian growth, friendship, and the work of the church. Women gather Wednesday evenings at 5:30 PM in the Education Hall for Bible study, then may join the church meal at 6:00 PM. A new woman is welcome to walk in the first time.

What the Lord commands

The Bible does not treat godly womanhood as a suggestion. It commands it. A woman who follows the Lord is called to fear Him, to love her husband and her children, to be discreet and chaste, to keep her home, and to adorn herself with good works rather than outward show. These are not optional ideals. They are the Lord’s commandments, and walking in them is necessary for a joyful life under His hand.

Why it matters

A woman shapes her home, her church, and the next generation. When she is weak in the Word, careless with her household, or pulled away from the older women who can teach her, the damage does not stay with her. When she is strong in the Lord, her household is steadied and the church is strengthened. The older women are commanded to teach the younger, and the younger are called to learn. That cannot happen alone.

A godly woman, as Scripture describes her

  • Fears the Lord, which is her true beauty and praise — Proverbs 31:30
  • Loves her husband and her children, and is a keeper at home — Titus 2:4–5
  • Submits to her own husband, as unto the Lord — Ephesians 5:22; Colossians 3:18
  • Is discreet, chaste, and of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price — Titus 2:5; 1 Peter 3:3–4
  • Opens her mouth with wisdom, and in her tongue is the law of kindness — Proverbs 31:26
  • Looks well to the ways of her household, and does good all the days of her life — Proverbs 31:12, 27
  • Teaches and exhorts younger women in what is good — Titus 2:3–4
  • Does not forsake assembling with the saints, but exhorts them — Hebrews 10:24–25

Apart from the Lord

None of this is possible apart from the Lord. Jesus said, “Without me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5). A biblically sound woman is not self-made. She is made by the grace of God, walking in the Spirit, and depending on Christ every day. Strength that does not come from Him will not hold.

Why we meet

These duties are hard. At times they feel impossible — and apart from the Lord and the fellowship of believers, they are. A woman cannot sharpen herself. She needs sisters who will pray with her, speak the truth to her, and hold her to the Word. That is the entire point of this ministry.

Join us

Childcare is available. Bring your children. Food is provided for them also. They meet in the Sherman Harmon Family Life Center for Awana and other youth activities. Awana follows the normal school schedule, and other activities continue when Awana ends.

Tara Beaver

Tara Beaver has been a member of Cathedral Baptist Church since 2018. She and her husband, Kenny, have been married for 25 years and have three wonderful children, Bryson, Taylor, and Maddox. Tara teaches Civics and Economics to high school seniors at Valley View High School and serves as the Odyssey of the Mind District Coordinator. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, playing board games, and going on drives. She loves making memories with those closest to her and finding joy in life's simple moments.
